As of January 1st, 2025, Mexico will implement new documentation requirements for all imported shipments as part of broader efforts to enhance tracking and data provision for low-value shipments.
What's Changing?
All shipments to Mexico must now include:
- Mexican Tax Identifier information
- Outbound provider's Tax Identifier
-
Complete recipient details:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Specific item descriptions for each order
Current Impact
- Outbound parcel shipments to Mexico are blocked until required info can be passed consistently
-
This affects all international shipping methods, including the following options with Flexport:
- United States Postal Service (USPS) International Service
- Passport Global Shipping Network
Required Actions
- Ensure you have valid Tax Identifier information ready
- Update your order management process to include all required recipient details
- Provide detailed item descriptions for all Mexico-bound orders
Timeline
- Effective date: January 1st, 2025
- Service resumption: To be announced once compliance requirements are met in January
