Understanding Shopify variants
Variants are different variations of a product, typically the same product but in a different size or color, such as a cap. Learn more in the Shopify help center.
Shopify variants can also be created with plugins and apps to allow for sellers to track certain variations (i.e virtual bundle with price savings to buyer, special on the same item, etc).
Finding Shopify variants in the Flexport Portal
Go to Inventory in the Flexport Portal. Search or find the DSKU that you are interested in. On the inventory details page, go to Aliases and then click on the Shopify link.
The variant is located in the ID value in the modal dialog.
Match with Your Shopify Website
Next, go to your Shopify store website. Find the product that you are looking for. Click on the variant selector (the different size, color, or other variant) to choose the right product. The URL of the website then shows the proper variant ID, that you can then match to the DSKU above.
You can also locate the Variant ID from within your Shopify Admin account:
-
From your Shopify admin, go to Products > All products.
-
Click a product that has a variant.
-
Do either of the following:
- If you have only one location for your store, in the Variants section of the product detail page, click Edit beside the product variant.
- If you have more than one location for your store, in the Variants section of the product detail page, click the product variant.
-
Examine the URL in your browser's address bar. Your URL should be similar to the following URL example:
The number after
/variants/
is the variant ID number. In this example, the variant ID is36485954240671
.
