This article explains how to use Freight as a shipping method when inbounding your inventory.
What is freight?
Freight is inventory shipped in bulk by truck, train, ship, or aircraft. While freight is typically shipped on pallets, small parcel is typically shipped in boxes or poly bags. (Note: all shipments must arrive in boxes!). Here is a rule of thumb for choosing between freight shipping and small parcel shipping: if you want to ship more than 250 pounds to one location, then you should use freight shipping instead of small parcel.
What are inbound freight offerings?
Flexport offers drayage, LTL (less than truckload), and FTL (full truckload) services but not all services are available from within the Flexport Portal. For drayage services, please complete this form.
If you are using Forwarding and shipping from within 50 miles of the cross-docks (in San Bernadino, CA or Phillipsburg, NJ), then you can book LTL and FTL from within the Flexport Portal.
If you are using Forwarding but shipping greater than 50 miles from the cross-docks or inbounding directly to Flexport Fulfillment Centers, then you will have two freight services in the Flexport Portal:
