Introduction

Configuring your shipping zones is a necessary step to use the WooCommerce direct integration with Flexport. This makes sure that the delivery speed that your buyer sees on checkout correctly passes over to Flexport, so we can meet the SLA (service level agreement) that the buyer expects.

Note: Fast tags are currently only possible through a custom integration that would require software development on your side. Read our Fast Tags SDK documentation for more details.

1) Create a Shipping Zone in WooCommerce

In WooCommerce, go to Settings and then Shipping.

Go to Shipping Zones. If no shipping zone exists, then click 'Add New Shipping Zone'. If you already have a shipping zone for the United States, then click into that.

In the first field, give your shipping zone a name. A simple "United States (US)" will be fine. In the second field, choose "United States (US)". This assigns the entire United States to this zone.

• Note: This includes Alaska and Hawaii. Flexport charges higher fees to fulfill Alaska and Hawaii orders. Learn more. To avoid this, instead of choosing "United States (US)" in the dropdown menu, instead select all 49 US regions (48 contiguous states plus the District of Columbia). This means Alaska and Hawaii addresses will not fall into this shipping zone, and thus will not see these shipping methods. You can then optionally create a new shipping zone, methods, and rates specifically for Alaska and Hawaii.

Next, you will add the shipping methods that you want your customers within this region to see. Click on Add Shipping Method.

Choose either Flat Rate or Free Shipping depending on the current shipping method you are adding. 

Click back into Edit for this shipping method you just created.

Rename the shipping method as desired. Your customers will see the title of this shipping method on checkout. This name is also important for step 2 in Flexport Portal. All other fields are optional, and up to you as the merchant to decide.

Continue creating shipping methods. We've listed a normal set of options below, but ultimately the choice is up to you, the merchant, as to what the buyer should see at checkout.

2) Map the Shipping Methods in Flexport

Go here in the Flexport Portal. Under Shipping Option Name, input the title of the shipping method that you named in WooCommerce. The title should exactly match in both platforms. For example, 'Next day shipping' as the first shipping method in the above and below screenshots.

Next choose a service level from the dropdown. Whenever Flexport sees an order with this shipping method title, then we will use this service level to properly fulfill this order.
