Before you get started
There are three ways you can create a bundle of your products in Flexport:
- From your marketplace: Create a new bundle product listing first, then import it into Flexport
- From Flexport: Create a bundle inside Flexport first, then create a product listing in your marketplace
- From a third party bundling app: Contact your bundling app’s Support team for instruction and confirm that the app is capable of breaking down bundle SKUs into the individual SKUs that make up the bundle
- NOTE: The bundle SKU cannot be imported into Flexport itself or as a line item in the order; otherwise, Flexport will cancel the order. Bundling apps that are confirmed to be compatible with Flexport are Simple Bundles and Bold Bundles
NOTE: Bundles are NOT supported with certain marketplaces, notably Walmart. Walmart will only allow bundles created with GS1 certified UPC/GTINs, which must be purchased by the merchant. If your bundle does not have a GS1 certified UPC/GTIN, it will be against Walmart's policy and subject to removal. According to Walmart's Knowledge Base, virtual bundles are unsupported. For more information, please see Avoid Product ID and Content Mismatches.
From your marketplace
Step 1: Create a new product listing in your marketplace (e.g., Shopify), representing your bundle
Create a listing with a product title that represents the contents of your bundle (e.g., Tea Variety Pack x6) and includes its unique SKU value, price, description, and images.
NOTES:
- Be sure that each item within the bundle exists as its own product listing in your marketplace.
- Your bundle SKU should not include any spaces (e.g. shirt 01 vs. shirt01)
- Your bundle SKU should be three or more characters in length
Step 2: Sync your catalog in Flexport and locate the new bundle SKU
In your Flexport Portal account, go to the Inventory page and click ‘Sync Catalog.’ Depending on the size of your catalog, it may take a few minutes for it to update. Once updated, you’ll see the new SKU in the Products tab of the Inventory page. Click on the product name to open its Product Detail page.
Step 3: Set up the product as a bundle
Click on the top right Actions menu, then click ‘Set up as a bundle.’ This will bring you to the Create Bundle page.
NOTE: You will not be able to convert an individual product to a bundle inside Flexport if
- It has already been added to a different bundle
- The inventory for the product has already been received (i.e., inbounded)
In the “Included Products” field of the Create Bundle page, search by SKU or product title for each product you wish to add to the bundle. Select the appropriate SKU/product when it appears in the results and adjust the quantities accordingly. What you select here should match the details of the bundle you created in your marketplace.
- NOTES:
Only SKUs of individual products can be added to a bundle. You will not be able to add a bundle SKUs to another bundle. - The “Estimated Total” value shown here at the moment is not a direct sum total. The total value includes any multi-unit discount applied if this bundle is fulfilled by Flexport. Selling products as virtual bundles does not change how your costs are calculated. For more information, please visit this What Are Flexport's Fees?
- If you have not yet estimated the dimensions and weight of your product, you can do so by clicking ‘Add details’ in the Fulfillment Fees column of the SKU details. The Estimated Total will not display until this information is complete.
Once you create a bundle, the contents cannot be modified. Please double check your product list for accuracy, then click ‘Save.’ You will be prompted again to save via a confirmation popup.Your bundle will then be ready to begin fulfilling. Flexport will fulfill the bundle like any other multi-item or multi-quantity order: the same fees will be applied, and we will attempt to ship in the least amount of boxes possible.
NOTE: You must maintain inventory levels of each product in accordance with the minimum quantity required of your marketplace.
From Flexport
Note: Please make sure the corresponding bundle listing does not exist inside Flexport already. That is, it is not already imported from your eCommerce platform. If it is, please follow the above steps. Otherwise, it will create duplicated items in your Inventory list and you will need to link aliases manually.
Step 1: Create a bundle in your Flexport Portal account
Go to the Inventory page. Click the ‘Create’ dropdown, then click ‘Create bundle.’
Create a “Name” and “SKU” for your bundle. The name of the bundle should detail what’s included in the bundle (e.g., Tea Variety Pack x6).
NOTES:
- Be sure that each item within the bundle exists as its own product listing in your marketplace.
- Your bundle SKU should not include any spaces (e.g. shirt 01 vs. shirt01)
In the “Included Products” field, search by SKU or product title for each product you wish to add to the bundle. Select the appropriate SKU/product when it appears in the results and adjust the quantities accordingly.
Once you create a bundle, the contents cannot be modified. Please double check your product list for accuracy, then click ‘Save.’ You will be prompted again to save via a confirmation popup.
Step 2: Create a new listing for your bundle in your marketplace
Log in to your marketplace seller account (e.g., Shopify) and create a product listing for your bundle. Make sure to use the exact SKU value you used to create the bundle in your Flexport Portal account. Then, publish the product listing.
Step 3: Sync your bundle with your Flexport Portal account
Go to the Inventory page and click ‘Sync Catalog’. Give it a few minutes for your inventory to sync, then navigate to the Bundles tab of the Inventory page.
Click on the product name of your newly created bundle. The alias section should reflect that your new bundle listing automatically linked to its respective channel (e.g., Shopify).
Note: It could take up to 5 minutes for your inventory count to be synced across Flexport and your eCommerce platform(s). This applies to when a new bundle is created inside Flexport or when a new bundle order is received at Flexport.
