This article explains how to add Box Contents Labeling prep for Flexport E-commerce inbounds.
Box content labeling is a prep service offered where box labels are printed and applied to inbound cartons, ensuring compliance with your downstream channels. Box contents labels are a mandatory requirement for inbounding into Flexport. For general information on inbounding and what these labels are, see How do I send an inbound shipment to Flexport?
The benefit of this service is:
- Save time preparing your inbound. Instead of applying these unique labels yourself, you can save the time and Flexport Prep will do it for you.
- Skip box configurations! By paying for box contents labeling, you do not need to provide box configurations when creating an inbound. Flexport Prep will count and label your boxes for you. This will ensure compliance downstream at our fulfillment centers.
Use Flexport Prep
To use Flexport Prep for box contents labeling, you must select Forwarding and ship LTL or FTL. Box contents labeling is currently not offered for small parcel delivery (SPD) shipments.
At Step 1 in the Complete Shipments screen when creating the inbound, you will see options for Boxes and labels. Here you can choose to pay per box for Flexport Prep to process your contents and label your boxes so they are compliant before heading to the fulfillment centers. If you are inbound case-pack, you will also see the number of boxes you previously entered and the estimated prep charge at $0.50/box. You will also be able to verify these charges and the services you selected at the last step.
Unit discrepancies
Flexport Prep will count and verify the unit counts of all boxes if you select Flexport Prep for box contents labeling. Prep will identify any unit-level discrepancies in your expected quantities before sending the boxes downstream. These discrepancies will not be investigated and reimbursed by support.
Label the boxes myself
If you choose to label the boxes yourself, you will not be charged a Prep fee. Instead you can provide the configurations of all your boxes, specifically the SKUs and quantities in each box. Afterwards, you will be able to download the box contents labels and apply them to each individual carton yourself.
